NAYDO Impact Award
“The opportunity to recognize the outstanding work of our NAYDO colleagues.”
Established by the NAYDO Council in 2018, the NAYDO Impact Award is the highest individual award given for outstanding volunteer service. Its purpose is to recognize NAYDO members who are exceptional leaders in inspiring and strengthening the philanthropic culture of the YMCA. It is not an annual award but will be given when deserved.
NAYDO Impact Award
2021W. Andrew Pierce, CFRE, received the NAYDO Impact Award at the 2021 Virtual Conference. When it comes to NAYDO, Andy has done it all. From local Y board member to Y staff member, he began working registration, then coordinating registration, serving as a track dean, the 2011 Conference Co-Chair, NAYDO Treasurer, Nominating Chair, Chair Elect, and NAYDO Chair for three years. He completed his role as Eagle Awards Chair and track dean for the 2021 conference.
Beyond NAYDO, Andy counseled many Y staff as a Y-USA Partner in financial development. He was active in the CDO group and served on other national staff groups. He’s presented at numerous conferences and other Y events. He has been a leader for the movement. In 2020, Andy retired from the YMCA of Greater Louisville where he served as the vice president of marketing and development. Andy is the leader many aspire to be.
2018
Carol Schmidt, CFRE, our first recipient of the NAYDO Impact Award, had an impactful career that began more than 40 years ago. The goal simply was to serve and make a difference. Throughout 35 years of Y service – most of them spent as a NAYDO member and leader – she engaged current and future leaders, created life-long advocates, and sought contributions to positively impact the Movement. She served as NAYDO Council Chair in 1994 and ’95, the first woman to do so, and, she received the Eagle Award in 1996 when it was presented to individuals, not associations. She’s a nationally-respected financial development professional, and she’s a donor to local causes that are meaningful to her. She continues her NAYDO Involvement as part of the NAYDO Alumni and Retiree Team.
