Friday Free Time
New Orleans Jazz and Heritage FestivalApril 27 - May 6
Jazz Fest opens on Friday, April 27 and continues over that weekend and the following weekend ending May 8. If you purchase a 1-day ticket it is good for any day of that one weekend. Admission was approximately $80 for a 1-day ticket in 2017 depending on when you bought your ticket.
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival attracts 450,000 people from all over the US and around the world. With 12 stages of soul-stirring music - jazz, gospel, Cajun, Zydeco, blues, R& B, rock, funk, African, Latin, Caribbean, folk and much more - Jazz Fest is a true celebration of the culture of Louisiana combined with the fervor of a gospel hymn and the joy of a jazz parade with performers that span all generations and genres. The best part is you can move from one stage to another staying only as long as you want to hear any one performer.
Held at the New Orleans Fairgrounds with very limited parking it is best to plan on taking the Jazz Fest Express that departs from the nearby Sheraton Hotel.
Want to go with other NAYDO attendees?
Purchase a shuttle ticket and admission ticket in advance and meet at the NAYDO Registration/Information Center at 10:00 am on Friday, April 27. A NAYDO group will walk over to the Sheraton Hotel location to ride the first shuttle out that morning. Jazz Fest performances typically end by 7:00 pm but you can leave whenever you want as the shuttle runs continuously. The Jazz Fest Express cost was $20 round trip in 2017. Shuttle and admission tickets are not on sale at this time but NAYDO will send an email to all registered attendees when tickets go on sale and performers are announced (generally by the first week of February).
